You may recall that we told you about young indie pop harpist, yes harpist, Mikaela Davis when she passed through town last summer. Hailing from Rochester, NY and now based in Brooklyn (as well as Nashville, where she’s been hard at work on a new album), the buzzworthy up and coming singer/songwriter has developed a unique sound, blending her classical musical background and unorthodox instrument of choice with beautiful, modern, contemporary pop and rock sensibilities. We loved last year’s Fortune Teller EP, as well as Mikaela’s self-titled full-length debut, and we absolutely can’t wait to see what she and her bandmates (Alex Cote, Cian McCarthy and Shane McCarthy) are crafting for her sophomore effort.
Davis returns to town Oct. 1 for a show at The Basement with Lauren Shera (tickets here), and, ahead of that show, is slated to release a remix of her Fortune Teller track “When The White Horse Takes Me Away,” helmed by breakout upstate NY indie rockers Joywave. The result is a stellar, upbeat, synthy masterpiece, that we guarantee you’ll have on repeat all weekend.
Though the remix officially drops tomorrow, Sept. 25, we’ve got an early stream for you below! Check it out, be sure to catch Mikaela next week at The Basement, and pick up a copy of Joywave’s full-length debut, How Do You Feel Now?, out now.
