Eagles Of Death Metal-2015-620

It’s been seven years since we last saw Jesse “The Devil” Huges and Josh “Baby Duck” Homme make music together, but now they’re back to make our asses shake once again.  Zipper Down is the newest release from the Eagles of Death Metal, and while it doesn’t hit stores until October 2nd, you can get a live preview tonight, Sept. 24, at Cannery Ballroom. They’re bringing their signature style of clever, hip-shaking rock-n-roll that sounds just as at home around a stripper pole as a comedy club. Sadly, Josh “Carlo Von Sexron” Homme most likely will not be there, as he’s not a usual touring member – but Jesse “Boots Electric” Huges and his glorious mustache are the real stars of the show here. And supporting him will most likely be his typical live touring band featuring “Darlin'” Dave Catching on guitar, Matt “Matt McJunkins” McJunkins filling in for Brian “Big Hands” O’Connor on bass, and Jeff “The White Don Cheadle” Friedl on drums. Did I mention they’re big on nicknames in this band? Put on your dancing boots and come on down to Cannery to see the whole gang tonight. Opening the show will be LA songstress Jesika von Rabbit. The 18+ show starts at 8:30pm, and tickets will cost you a cool $20, which you can buy here. Find out more about each band after the jump!.

EAGLES OF DEATH METAL

Josh Homme and Jesse Huges have been friends since high school, when Homme thwarted a bully’s attempt at picking on Huges. It was Josh Homme himself who gave Jesse the nickname “The Devil”, at the ripe age of 13 – and it has stuck ever since. They eventually created the band in 1998, which first saw action in a Dessert Sessions compilation that same year. As the story goes, Huges was introducing Homme to the genre of death metal, and when he played him a song from the Polish band Vader, Homme referred to them as the “Eagles of Death Metal”. This led to them pondering what a mix between the Eagles and Death Metal would actually sound like – an answer they created in their own way in the form of the band. With just four albums now under their belt in the 15+ year history of the band, they don’t come around too often – but of all Josh Homme’s various projects, none is more fun than this one. They make music that makes you wanna both dance and laugh, and if you can’t at least do one of those things while listening to an EODM record, you’re probably doing it wrong.

JESIKA VON RABBIT

Jesika von Rabbit is the solo project from the frontwoman of buzzy Los Angeles band Gram Rabbit. Her solo project sounds like an electronic psych-pop dream, and she herself is a provocateur on-stage. She’s the perfect opening compliment to the overt masculinity of Eagles of Death Metal.

Eagles Of Death Metal and Jesika Von Rabbit will perform TONIGHT (9/24/15) at Cannery Ballroom. The show is 18+, begins at 8:30 pm (doors at 7:30), and tickets are available for $20.
