As we announced a couple months back, buzzworthy local electronic duo Cherub are set to play their biggest hometown headlining show to date later this week, Sept 5 at The Ryman. Not only will the evening mark the debut of a new, full live band, but at only $25, it’s a damn bargain by Ryman standards. Cherub fans already know that this is a guaranteed party, and it just got even better, with the addition of local post-punk/elecro rockers Future Unlimited. A longtime site favorite, Future Unlimited channel the moody, etherial, goth-leaning vibe of some of our favorite ’80s post-punk pioneers, updated with modern, layered sensibilities. After this year’s Road to Bonnaroo win, they might be hard to classify as “underground” these days, but, still, Future Unlimited remain criminally underrated; one of the best bands in town, they’re sure to impress at the Mother Church, and they just helped elevate this show to must-see status.
