If you’re a fan of glamorous alt-rockers Neon Trees, you won’t want to miss the chance to see them perform an intimate and stripped-down set. The quartet will play the unique gig at Mercy Lounge with Nashville natives COIN and fellow electro-pop rockers Fictionist tonight, on July 14. The show is 18+ and you can still grab tickets while they last for $25.
It will be a night full of great music from one of the most experimental mainstream pop acts in recent years and two innovative, up-and-coming bands that will drive you to the dance floor. If you’ve only heard the hits from Neon Trees, do yourself a favor and spin their latest album, Pop Psychology, before you head to this gig. You can thank us later.
NEON TREES
Utah-based pop-rockers Neon Trees are experts at supplying a seemingly endless stream of energy during their live performances. They gained a lot of attention for their infectious 2010 hit single, “Animal,” but their talents are rooted in their surprisingly honest lyrics and unique blend of dance-inducing electronic beats. The group’s latest album, Pop Psychology, features more hard-rocking guitar licks and experimental sounds than their previous releases.
COIN
Local indie rock foursome COIN have grown from one of many bands spawned from the halls of Belmont University to one of the cities most buzzed about groups. Their fresh take on infectiously upbeat dance pop has won over fans worldwide and earned them the opening spot on Neon Trees’ full national tour. They released their first full-length self-titled album this June, and are set to play Lollapalooza on August 1.
FICTIONIST
Since 2005, Fictionist has been releasing tracks that highlight a classic indie rock sound with constantly evolving mixture of progressive and new wave influences. They released their fourth, self-titled album in 2014 after parting ways with Atlantic Records in order to gain more artistic freedom. The group tells the ups and downs of their musical journey through a uniquely modern sound that teeters along the borders of many genres.
Neon Trees, COIN and Fictionist will perform July 14 at Mercy Lounge. The show is 18+, begins at 7:30pm (doors at 6:30pm), and tickets are available for $25.
