Battles-620

Brooklyn based experimental proggy math rockers Battles have announced a return to Music City with a date at Exit/In on October 17th.  The enigmatic band is comprised of drummer John Stanier (of Helmet and Tomahawk), guitarist/keyboardist Ian Williams (of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress), and guitarist David Konopka (of Lynx).  Together these guys culminate one of the most insane live shows that you can possibly imagine.  They absolutely blew this writers’ mind at Bonnaroo in 2012 (man, we’ve come a long way since then), which was a consolation for being laid up sick during their last stop in Nashville in 2011 (on my birthday, nonetheless).

This current tour is hopefully going to come along with the long awaited announcement of a third LP to follow up 2011’s Gloss Drop, which the band has reportedly been working on for over a year now.  Needless to say, this would be great news for fans of Battles, just like the sure to be freakout at Exit/In should be a must for all music fans.  Tickets go on sale Friday July 17th, and you can snag those here for $18. Check out the video for their 2011 hit “Ice Cream” below, and, if you have a few extra minutes check out the absolutely incredible La Blogotheque session filmed in Paris to get an idea of why this should be one of your top shows of the fall.
