We’ve already let you know that ZZ Ward is playing Marathon Music Works on Friday, Sept. 4 as she tours in support of her upcoming album This Means War. The vintage pop singer was a breakout face from the festival circuit last year, including a killer Thursday set at Bonnaroo 2014. Fans have been waiting since 2012 for new music from Ward, who blends pop, blues, hip hop, and soul for a sound that gets her categorized alongside old school pop singers like Adele, Duffy, and Joss Stone. But anyone who’s seen Ward’s live show, which includes her playing guitar and a very bluesy harmonica, knows that ZZ has a unique style within that vintage pop genre.
