The Nashville based folk-pop duo of best friends, And the Giraffe, are playing at Foobar on Friday night with psychedelic rockers Bear in the Campsite and bizarre folkies Moes Anthill. If you’re looking to go to the divey-est of dive bars to hear some laid-back melodic music to relax after a long work week, this is the show for you. Read more on the lineup after the jump.
AND THE GIRAFFE
And the Giraffe are a Nashville based dreamy folkpop duo that originally split their time between Music City and Gainesville, FL before committing to Nashville and recording of their second EP, Creator Collector, which can be streamed via the band’s website. Self-described best friends Nick Roberts and Josh Morris have been busy playing gigs around Tennessee and are busy at work on their first full-length album, set to come out later this year.
BEAR IN THE CAMPSITE
Bear in the Campsite are an indie alternative band that recently released an EP entitled Hotel Infinity (that we featured a debut video for their track “Tail Lights”). It as if fueled by peyote, we’d wonder what would happen if the Beatles had joined the Hell’s Angels. These are the things that come to mind when listening to the five-piece that plays psychedelic, jam-influenced rock with pop melodies.
Moe’s Anthill
Moe’s Anthill refers to itself as “warped punk.” The band is from Zurich, Switzerland, but came to Nashville to get in touch with their country side by adding “a slight touch of bluegrass and banjo.” Bizarre instrumentation and strange lyrics that are spoken more than sung call to mind Lou Reed’s solo work.
And The Giraffe, Bear In The Campsite, and Moes Anthill will perform tonight (9/18/14) at fooBar. The show is 21+, begins at 9pm (doors at whenever you feel like getting a drink), and tickets are available for $5 at the door.
