Bonnaroo Artist | The Griswolds
Bonnaroo History | Newbie
Stage & Time | Sunday | TBA | 6PM
Just like last year and the year before, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with as many bands as we can from Bonnaroo‘s impressive 2014 lineup. In addition to main stage acts, we also want to be sure to give the Club Stage bands some love, so, for the next month or so, we’re adding a second daily spotlight. They might be the smallest artists on Bonnaroo’s bill, but the Club Stage bands are some of the best and most exciting up and coming acts around. As with our main stage previews, we’ll start from the bottom and work our way up. Keep reading for your Bonnaroo Club Stage Band of the Day…
LEARN
Fair warning: The Griswolds isn’t a National Lampoon’s themed band. But if you’re taking a trip to Wally World, they make for a perfect soundtrack. The Sydney based quartet reps dream pop with lively rhythms. They’ve gotten comparisons to MGMT and Vampire Weekend, which fits our ears. While MGMT is all about living fast and dying young, The Griswolds parties to live another day. The basslines make you want to slap beach balls around in between taking shots at a poolside tiki bar.
The Griswolds are coming off of their highly successful Heart of a Lion EP, which received a boatload of blog buzz. Fellow blog darlins Magic Man even remixed their lead single, “Mississippi”. Take a listen to the original cut below.
