Bonnaroo kicked off its annual lineup guessing game, Roo Clues, last week, and we think we solved the first two. Adopting a much simpler format, this year’s clues will just be Instagram-based, and will arrive every Tuesday and Thursday. Roo Clue #3 arrived yesterday, and, once again, we’re pretty sure we’ve got it figured out (hey Bonnaroo, we miss the challenge of last year’s clues!). After the jump, check out who you can expect to see this summer on the farm!

Here’s Roo Clue #3:

This one is slightly more ambiguous, but here’s what we think:

  • The man in the photo is Winston Churchill. Though there is a band called Churchill, they’re broken up as of last year, and aren’t big enough to reunite just for this. [verdict: nope]
  • The lazy guess here, without regard to the subject or specific symbolism would be Cut Copy. Though it’s a little too on the nose, they do seem to be lining up a lot of summer fests, and are a perfect fit for ‘Roo. [verdict: doubtful]
  • Churchill is holding up a peace sign, which also forms a “two.” Additionally, a chain (or perhaps two chains) are coming from his waistcoat. In Roo Clue years past, we would have guessed 2 Chainz for sure, but it kind of feels like we’re overthinking it with that conclusion- still, not impossible. [verdict: maybe]
  • Our guess, however, and what seems to be the most logical answer is CHVRCHES. There’s more than one Churchhill, so it’s literally Churchills. And, more tellingly, that peace sign/two also forms a “V,” specific to the band’s stylized spelling. Coupled with the fact that Radio Bonnaroo stressed paying attention to the glove color, which matches the blue/green color CHVRCHES most often use for their V, and we think we have a winner. [verdict: extremely likely]

Are you excited to potentially see CHVRCHES this summer at Roo? Who else is on your wish list? Check back later this week for Roo Clue #4!
