Pretty much everyday a group of friends gets together to pursue the noble act of writing tunes. This could go well, or not, but rarely has it gone as well as it did with The Hawk in Paris. Of course, not every group of friends consists of the talented Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay, writer/Jars of Clay producer/musical mastermind Matt Bronleewe, and Jeremy Bose, a gifted writer for the likes of Amy Grant.
Perhaps the most admirable aspect of this project is their method of funding, which is driven primarily by one factor: you! By donating to their Pledge Campaign, you can help offset the costs of recording equipment and staff, as well as tangibly demonstrating to the band that their music is something worth creating. Plus, you’ll get exclusive T-shirts, posters, and even signed test pressings if you donate more than $10. Even without these treats, however, this is a simple way to show a stellar band that you care, and us at No Country whole heartedly recommend you give a little.
This trio of music industry vets truly combines to create a product that is truly greater than the sum of its parts; their first full length, Freaks, takes on influences ranging from the mellow tones of Massive Attack, The XX, and Depeche Mode to the sultry sounds of Portishead. However The 12 track effort is spacey, contemplative, and occasionally insatiably danceable, but don’t just take our word for it, check out the album preview after the jump!
