WU LYF

Why can’t I stop listening to this WU LYF album?

WU LYF (an acronym for “World Unite! Lucifer Youth Foundation”….. well, that sure clears it up) is a post-rocky sort of band out of Manchester, England.  They are an emerging British buzz band who interacts (by design) very little with the press.  They have even deleted their own Wikipedia page on a number of occasions.  They declined numerous requests by labels to release their debut LP Go Tell Fire To The Mountain, and they self-released the album in June 2011.  They turned down the traditional music studio and decided instead to record their amazing LP in an old church in England.  While the mystique is certainly an appeal of this band, they are going to either have to accept it, or quit making such awesome music….. because the world is going to want more of this.

They are currently touring around Europe.  They have only played a couple of gigs in the States so far, but they have just announced an extended tour with more US dates in November 2011 (nothing really close to Nashville though).  Check out a pretty good write up done by Spin Magazine for a recent show in New York.  They have a great website with a video embed wallpaper behind the track “Heavy Pop”.

You can check out some tracks from Go Tell Fire To The Mountain below.  And, after one listen, you’ll go out and get this album from your local record store (Hi, Grimey’s… *waving*).  It’s pretty awesome, and it will be on heavy rotation at your house too.
