Itching to hear some new and exciting alt-pop from both the West and East Coasts, without the expensive plane tickets? NYC’s Future Generations and LA’s Private Island are joining forces for a co-headlining show at The High Watt on July 28. Both bands are coming off strong releases but are also gearing up to drop some new tunes, so this is the perfect opportunity to hear what’s next before it lands on all your friends’ playlists. Tickets are still available right here, but we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Read on for more about the show, and enter for a chance to win below!

FUTURE GENERATIONS

Nashville native Eddie Gore, Mike Sansevere and Eric Grossman first formed the indie alt-pop group Future Generations while studying at Fordham University. The NYC quintet created their first EP during jam sessions between classes. That earned the attention of Frenchkiss Records, who released the band’s debut self-titled LP in 2016. During that time, they added bassist Devon Sheridan and drummer Dylan Wells to the mix to enhance their sound. Their songs “Stars” and “You’ve Got Me Flush” earned millions of streams on Spotify and praise from critics. Now, with their return to Nashville, the band will mark a new peak in their career by showing off their already solid catalog and hopefully giving us a taste of what’s next.

PRIVATE ISLAND

Los Angeles’ own Private Island mix elements of today’s indie pop with funk, jazz and some retro soul. The band, comprised of Christian Lum, Michelle Guerrero, Tommy Nickerson, Tim Barbour, Roger Mawer and Cameron Anderson, released their A Good Look EP back in 2014. They kicked up both the style and substance with 2016’s Sunbreak EP, which dived deeper into the confusion and chaos of life, love and everything that comes in between. Those two releases earned a dedicated fan base in their home state, but their newest work might be the ticket to expanding that even further. Their new track “Turbulence” (listen below) strips down their previous sound for a more rhythmic and intimate vibe.
