LEARN
British-based indie folk band Daughter is comprised of lead vocalist Elena Tonra, guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella. The trio came together in 2010 after Tonra found herself struggling to find her musical identity as a solo artist. After releasing two highly buzzed-about EPs, they signed with European record label 4AD and released their breakthrough debut album, If You Leave, in 2013. The record’s incredible mixture of profoundly emotional lyrics and haunting instrumentation earned acclaim from international press outlets and fans across the globe. After nearly two straight years of successful touring both as headliners and support for major artists like The National, the band headed back into the studio with new inspiration in tow.
Thanks to their time on the road, they learned to embrace a more rock-inspired sound which takes the spotlight in their 2016 LP Not to Disappear. Building on their already dark and moody sound, the record uses delay and minimalist instrumentation to place a firm focus on Tonra’s haunting vocals. With a treasure trove of great material and plenty of on-stage swagger ready and waiting, Daughter is one band you need to experience live during this year’s trek to Bonnaroo.
