Tonight, March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day, and, per usual, Music City is celebrating the best way we know how: with a ton of great live show options. If local music is your thing (and if you’re reading this site, we know it is), there’s no better place to be than Marathon Music Works, where the fine folks at PBR are sponsoring St. Pabst Day, featuring a stacked bill of The Weeks, The Black Cadillacs, and That’s My Kid, three amazing bands we’ve been bragging about for years now. Tickets are just $15, and you can snag them here while they last. Find out more about the show after the jump!
THE WEEKS
Blending southern rock with garage, alternative, and indie rock sounds, The Weeks started in high school, and produced several early albums before ultimately relocating to Nashville, and, subsequently, signing to Kings of Leon’s Serpents & Snakes record label. Their breakthrough came in the form of 2012 (originally 2011) release, Gutter Gaunt Gangster, with 2013’s Dear Bo Jackson helping expand their critical and commercial presence, and further realize the evolution of their sound. The band dropped their most recent EP, Buttons, in 2014, and are expected to release a new LP in 2016. Just in the past few years, we’ve seen the group grow from small rooms to festival staples, club headliners, and international touring artists, and we couldn’t be prouder of their success. Eclectic in sound and energetic in their live performance, The Weeks are truly one of the most exciting rock bands to emerge from Nashville recent years. They’ve been testing out some new tunes in inmate rooms around the country in recent months, so expect plenty of fresh jams!
THE BLACK CADILLACS
Hailing from Knoxville, The Black Cadillacs are a band we’ve long been fans of, and are a great pairing for The Weeks. The group dropped an eclectic, self-titled EP early last year, and have been enjoying its success ever since. A true rock band through and through, their sound is loud an energetic, blending classic rock, indie rock, and grunge, with a touch of Southern charm, and their live show is just as compelling. With increased buzz in recent years, the rockers are quickly becoming festival favorites, and have had their music featured on multiple major television shows. The best way to catch ’em is surely in person though!
THAT’S MY KID
Groovy, psych-rock trio That’s My Kid are fast becoming one of Nashville’s top bands to watch, impressing us with each new release and hypnotic live outing. Over the past year, since the buzzy band dropped their self-titled, debut EP, they’ve become even more active in the local scene, honing their chops and, presumably, working on new material to dominate our playlists in 2016. Well-suited to kick things off, they’re more than up to the task of getting your St. Paddy’s going right!
The Weeks, The Black Cadillacs, and That’s My Kid will perform tonight St. Patrick’s Day, March 17 at Marathon Music Works. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available for $15.
