Our favorite local synthpoppers, Coin, have just dropped a cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic “Cecilia,” and it’s downright amazing. Coin bring their signature pop sensibilities, affinity for synths (though reeled in a bit), and infectious energy to the track, co-opting it as a Coin song without straying too far from what makes the original so great. Frontman Chase Lawrence, especially, gets to flex his chops here, delivering quite possibly his most impressive vocal performance yet!
Additionally, Coin have announced their first Nashville show of 2014 (which follows several months of gigging out of town and working on some business stuff behind the scenes- keep your eyes peeled for developments), set to take place Jan. 24 at Exit/In. We’ll bring you more information closer to the show but, for now, you can snag tickets here for just $10.
