Hailing from Los Angeles by way of Little Rock, Arkansas, multifaceted rapper, singer, and producer Kari Faux first broke out to wider acclaim with mixtape Laugh Now, Die Later nearly a decade ago, capturing the attention of prominent creatives like Childish Gambino (who remixed a track and would go on to collaborate with Faux on subsequent releases) and Issa Rae (who included Faux’s music on several seasons of her hit HBO show Insecure). Fusing an appreciation for ’90s hip hop and r&b with modern, internet-forged contemporary rap and pop sensibilities, Kari has honed her sharp, conversational, and witty stylings across three LPs, 2016’s Lost En Los Angeles, 2020’s Lowkey Superstar, and recent effort Real Bitches Don’t Die!, all the while fleeting her skills at producing, DJing, modeling, and collaborating with impressive artists like Chloe x Halle, Isaiah Rashad, and Open Mike Eagle.

Her skill at making music that feels thoroughly modern, while honed and inspired by so much great art that came before in unmatched, and Kari Faux’s live show is just as earnest and immersive as her songs.
