Apparently, October isn’t just the month of insane shows coming through music city. It’s also stacking up to be an amazing month of local releases. Today, we are stoked to bring you a sneak preview of one of those records with our exclusive premiere of The JAG‘s Pondermental Wonderment In Hypocricity, which drops tomorrow (Oct. 23). It’s been three years since we got our first taste of The JAG with their debut, Mississippi Acid Pine Highway Tour, and we asked front man Aaron Tyler King about the inspiration for the new record:
“There was a three year gap between our first record and this one. I think it mostly fell on me as the primary writer due to personal growth along with some turmoil. Like the sum of my days in that period of time, the album adds up to be a collection of thoughts and judgements made towards myself. A reflection on my time in Nashville thus far. Some jabs at Nashville’s fucked up music industry are made as well and I don’t mind mentioning that.”
The new album definitely expands on the band’s take on psychedelica and their fondness for Eno, Bowie, and Byrne. You should start savoring this great new effort now, and then swing out to pick up a copy at your favorite music retailer tomorrow. If you can’t wait until tomorrow, then head over to fooBAR tonight to catch their record release show with Bantam Foxes, The Mumzees, and Uzi.
