Last summer, and following a myriad of tour delays, acclaimed English singer and former Smiths frontman Morrissey performed at The Ryman for the first time in a decade, out in support of his fantastic tenth album, World Peace Is None of Your Business. Somewhat unexpectedly, the Pope of Mope announced a quick return to Music City, originally planned for July 2 at the Grand Ole Opry (where he hasn’t played since 1992), but, in typical Moz fashion, that got switched last minute. Still, if it’s anything like last year, tonight’s show promises to be an unbelievable experience; despite his frustrating recent tour history and clashes with the industry, Morrissey remains one of the most compelling, transcendent, and unparalleled artists on the planet, and his live performances are top-notch, some of a religious experience, even, for his devout fans. Taking a look at setlists from other outings on this run, it seems like this might even exceed last time, so, Morrissey and Smiths diehards, and/or general lovers of amazing music, grab your tickets right here; there are still some great seats available!
Per usual, the show is all ages, doors are at 7 p.m., and the show is slated to began at 8 p.m. with a short intro video. There is no opener, and Moz will began promptly at 8:30. Downtown traffic will be insane, so plan accordingly! And, a note: if you had tickets to the Opry show, your seats should have been switched already; if not, call Ticketmaster and/or the box office immediately. If you had tickets to last night’s show, but are unable to attend the new date, you can seek a refund.
