Do you know what progressive bluegrass is? Who am I kidding? You’re from Nashville, and you can probably tell me about chill-grass, post-grass, new-grass, firstwave-grass, shoe-grass, and that funny smelling “grass” that people bring to music festivals. So, let me be more specific… if you are down some high tempo bluegrass action, then I have just the thing for you tonight in Nashville.
Trampled by Turtles is a five-piece, high tempo rockin’ bluegrass band out of Duluth, Minnesota. They are currently (still) touring in support of their fifth LP, Palomino, which has had a top 10 ranking on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts for a staggering 52 straight weeks (yup, that’s a freaking year). Their high-energy shows have created quite a fan-following, and have slotted them sets at Coachella, Stagecoach, Bumbershoot, Pickathon, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and the Newport Folk Festival.
You get to hang with these fellas tonight at Exit/In. Tickets are $15 bones, and you can grab them here. Doors open around 7pm and things get pickin’ with These United States. Given the recording roots of Trampled By Turtles in Nashville, they just might be trying out some hot new licks for us tonight. Don’t miss it.
To get to know Trampled By Turtles more, download their Daytrotter Session, and check out some videos below. You’ll hear some pretty popular bands [ahem, cough, cough… Mumford and Sons] that sure do try to sound this good.
