Tour de Fun 2015 Lineup Announced; Pujol, Ri¢hie, Idle Bloom, More to Perform

Entering into its fifth year, the annual Tour de Fun, a bike-centric, local music festival, which originated in Murfreesboro and moved last year to East Nashville, is set to return on Saturday, May 23. This year’s event will, for the first time, require a ticket, but, at only $10 until May 1, it’s a hell of a steal, considering the look of the 2015 lineup, which includes Pujol, Ri¢hie, Body of Light, Meth Dad, Idle Bloom, Penicillin Baby, Faux Ferocious, Sexx, and tons more; over 40 acts in 15 venues total! We’ll update with a schedule and specifics closer the the event, but, for now, check out Tour de Fun’s best lineup ever below!

First Round Of Road To Bonnaroo 2015 Announced For February 23rd at Mercy Lounge and The High Watt

Road to Bonnaroo-620

It’s that time of year again.  The time of year when bands lobby, beg, and plead for your vote to send them to Bonnaroo.  The wildly successful (and fun) 8 off 8th variation of Battle Of The Bands, Road To Bonnaroo will retain the same format as last year.  There will be ten bands in each of the three monthly competitions, and the event will be split across two stages (Mercy Lounge & High Watt) for the three song sets.  The judging will be the same as previous years with the votes being split between media and industry professionals and YOU, the fans!

We’ve seen some of our favorites win the honor over the past couple of years, and this year is chock full of more bands that we’ve been spouting off about recently.  Let’s all give a round of applause for this year’s round one nominees (in alphabetical order): DeRobert & The Half Truths, Elise Davis, The Future, KOA, Liz Cooper & The Stampede, SEXX, Sol Cat, Tesla Rossa, Trinity Schill Kill, and The Wans.  Check below to have a listen and start finding a favorite now.

Reminder… In fairness, the order of bands is chosen at random about an hour before the event.  So, mark your calendar now for February 23rd, and make sure you get there early because this FREE event hits capacity pretty early.  Don’t worry, we (and ten of your favorite new bands) will remind you plenty between now and then.

Local indie label Palaver Records hosted a night of rowdy hard rock at Exit/In last Saturday featuring their biggest band the pop punks Sexx as well as metal heads Look What I Did, all-girl pop punk band The Dead Deads, and the post grunge group Indulgist. You might recognize the name Palaver from the weekly showcase the label puts on at east side dive FooBar on Thursday nights, but last weekend they crossed the river and took over a much bigger venue, to a rollicking success judging by the crowd.

Read the full review and check out some kick-ass photos from Caroline Bowman after the break.
