East Nashville Underground Spring 2013 | Saturday Day Session Preview

ENUSpring2013poster

Hell to the YES! It’s that time again, Nashville — where we celebrate another season like some indie rock pagans in a home-grown festival fit for Dionysus in skinny jeans. Spring is SPRUNG and we’re making like Punxsutawney Phil and heading underground for what is sure to be the most epic East Nashville Underground installment yet! (You can reminisce and re-live the magic of ENU Winter 2013 here).

We already gave you the details of Monday’s stellar 8 Off 8th celebration that kicked off this week’s undergound activities, and Philip brought you the scoop on some preliminary details after the announcement party at The Stone Fox back in April.  Jessika dug through the Friday night lineup for you yesterday, and now we turn our attention to the ever-growing Saturday Day session for one of their biggest lineups yet. The May 11th day session kicks off at 1pm and runs right through until 8pm.  Just enough time for a little breather before you go hard again all night.  This is the last season for ENU at The East Room, so let’s send this one out with a bang starting on Saturday afternoon.  Full preview of all the bands are after the jump.

Natural Child, Little Bandit, and Bobby Bare Jr. | Tonight @ The Stone Fox

Looking for a fun way to fill your Thursday night (or bummed that the Shovels & Rope show at Mercy Lounge sold out before you could snag a ticket)? Look no further than The Stone Fox for a fantastic triple bill of some of our local favorites: Natural ChildLittle Bandit, and Bobby Bare Jr.

I’m sure we don’t need to tell you about Natural Child. The prolific Nashville trio have an affinity for old rock and roll and an attitude to match. They’re also one of many great bands representing Music City at this year’s SXSW festival! Check out their brand new video for “Ain’t Gonna Stop,” below:

Alt/Americana rockers Little Bandit are a testament to the fact that good, old-fashioned and genuine country music still exists in Nashville- it’s just vastly overshadowed by the more popular radio flavor of the genre that this site tries so hard to ignore. The band never disappoints with their hypnotizing, heartfelt tunes!

The name Bobby Bare Jr. certainly should ring some bells, but don’t get Jr. confused with his country legend pop. The Americana/alt rocker has toured with members of Lambchop, My Morning Jacket, and …Trail of Dead, among others, and has spent years carving out his own unique sound. He’s prolific, engaging, and never puts on a bad show. Don’t miss out!

Natural Child, Little Bandit, and Bobby Bare Jr. play tonight at The Stone Fox. The show starts at 9PM, costs just $7, and more information can be found here.

It’s another edition of rapid fire three song sets for some local Nashville bands tonight in the weekly 8 off 8th Monday night at Mercy Lounge.  It’s a chance for you to check out some of the best local musicians in Nashville’s indie scene, and the best part is IT’S FREE!
