TWiN | This Weekend in Nashville | 5/10-5/12

It’s been quite a week, and this weekend is going to be an absolute blowout of amazing music.  We have been telling you about East Nashville Underground all. week. long.  If you haven’t bought your tickets for that yet, you’ll have to get there early and hope the remaining tickets aren’t sold out.  We also spent some time with Courtney Jaye’s new record, and she has her release party going on over The Stone Fox on Friday night.  T. Rust popped onto our radar with his video release of “Houses”, and they are going to be ripping up The End on Friday night. Holla if you remember our write up about the Generationals helping to start this blog, because we did a ticket giveaway for their show over at The High Watt. And, just yesterday, we did a review of that awesome new Hotpipes record Dust too, and those cats are gonna be having their own little release party over at Mercy Lounge on Saturday night too.

See… We’ve been preparing for this weekend all week, but we aren’t even close to finished.  We have more festivals, Bonnaroo and Hangout Fest sized bands, and tons more after the jump.  Get out and see some live music this weekend.

East Nashville Underground Spring 2013 | Saturday Night Preview

ENUSpring2013poster

Hell to the YES! It’s that time again, Nashville — where we celebrate another season like some indie rock pagans in a home-grown festival fit for Dionysus in skinny jeans. Spring is SPRUNG and we’re making like Punxsutawney Phil and heading underground for what is sure to be the most epic East Nashville Underground installment yet! (You can reminisce and re-live the magic of ENU Winter 2013 here).

We already gave you the details of Monday’s stellar 8 Off 8th celebration that kicked off this week’s undergound activities, and Philip brought you the scoop on some preliminary details after the announcement party at The Stone Fox back in April. Jessika dug through the Friday night lineup for you, and Matt gave you the rundown on the Saturday Day session yesterday. Today, we turn our attention to Saturday night for one of their biggest closing lineups yet. The May 11th evening session kicks off at 9pm and runs right until 3AM. This is the last season for ENU at The East Room, so let’s send this one out with a bang! Full preview of all the bands are after the jump.

East Nashville Underground Spring 2013 Lineup Announcement

Are you psyched for the next installment of East Nashville Underground? We’re psyched for the next installment of East Nashville Underground! After that amazing winter session, I wasn’t sure how ENU could top it- but they did, yet again!

If last night’s announcement party at The Stone Fox is any indication, this session is likely to sell out faster than ever before! El El and Ravello played to a packed room, and DJ Jazzy Jazz finished out the night! El El is the brand new project of Ben Elkins (formerly of ENU alums Heypenny) and though last night was one of their first shows ever, the 7-piece electro-soul band owned the room! We last saw Ravello rock the house at the Road to Bonnaroo, and the band brought just as much energy and intensity to their awesome set yesterday evening! In addition to performances, The Stone Fox also offerred creative drink specials themed after each of the upcoming ENU’s six headliners.

But enough about the announcement party (which will be a permanent fixture of ENU going forward), I’m sure you’re more interested in the actual announcement. This might just be the most exciting Underground session yet! It takes place May 10 & May 11, and you can peep (most of) the lineup below:

The Pioneers Debut As Nashville’s Official Basketball Team

Word has been trickling out this week about Nashville’s “official” hoops squad, The Pioneer’s.  While our newest franchise isn’t sanctioned by the NBA, NBDL, CBA, USBL, WNBA, or even the defunct ABA, it is our only “official” basketball team because we don’t have another squad of hoopsters in town.  Despite your initial doubts, if you’ve been following this blog for a while, you will probably recognize quite a few of the squad like Chancellor Warhol, Evan P. Donohue, Heypenny frontman Ben Elkins, William Tyler, designer Otis James, artist Adrien Saporiti, & Joe Clemons.  Coached by Bob “I Used To Be A M***** F*****” Saporiti, this team of talent is scheduled to start their inaugural season off against the likes of Rhode Island, Greenland, Britain, Montana, and a presumed back-to-back against each of the Dakotas.

Surely, we will be hearing more about The Pioneers as they get the season started with some pep rallies, birthday parties, post game celebrations, and rumor has it some open practices.  You can keep in touch with the team through their Facebook page, Twitter, and their web page.  If you want to start snagging some team schwag, you can hit the team store.  Get to know the team below, and support your Nashville Pioneers!
