There’s really no better place to be than The Ryman Auditorium on a Friday night during the fall, so seeing Local Natives recently immediately became the highlight of my show calendar for 2016. After a pretty significant gap in touring, due to recording their album Sunlit Youth, they finally released the album and made it back to Nashville to an almost sold out crowd, and we were among the lucky audience. Read on for a full review and stunning photos from Shayne Garcia!

Live On The Green Finale Starts TONIGHT w/ Young The Giant, COIN, BØRNS, SIMO, *repeat repeat, & More

LiveOnTheGreen2016-Header

Any Nashville resident could give you a mile-long list of reasons why this city is the best, but one of the things that is sure to stand out is Live on the Green. Sadly, the free, weekly musical gathering in Public Square Park is coming to a close this weekend after three weeks of stellar entertainment, from the likes of Andra Day, Allen Stone, and White Denim, followed by Jenny Lewis, Passenger, and JR JR, and most recently Dawes, Kurt Vile & the Violators, and The Record Company. But there’s no time to be sad, because the final weekend kicks off tonight, Sept. 1 with a jam-packed lineup of Young The Giant, BØRNS, COIN, The Revivalists, SIMO, and *repeat repeat.

Live on the Green will conclude this week with an epic three-day, two-stage Labor Day weekend finale from Thursday Sept. 1 through Saturday Sept. 3.  Per usual, LOTG is free and all ages, and the music tonight will run from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m., and there will be plenty of food and beer vendors on site to meet your needs. Parking is just $5 at the Public Square Park Garage below the festival site, and various other garages and street parking options are available on the surrounding blocks, as well as across the bridge at LP Field. VIP tickets and backstage passes are all sold out for tonight, but there are, as of publishing this, still some packages available for Saturday Sept. 3. Find out more about this week’s installment below, and find out more about the entire season on Live on the Green’s site.

Watch Alaina Cross Cover Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold”

AlainaCross-620

Everyone loves a good pop cover, right? We certainly do, and today we’re excited to share this awesome video of Nashville singer Alaina Cross covering Demi Lovato’s power ballad “Stone Cold.” Cross, who formerly fronted the Nashville-based hard rock band The Resolute, recently set out on her own to make her own blend of R&B-infused pop while still maintaining that rock edge, and her sound is staying on our radar. A few weeks ago, she released her first original single “Call It Quits,” a funky, sassy tune, which you can listen to here. Cross’s stripped down, acoustic version of “Stone Cold” perfectly showcases her powerful voice, and the scenery overlooking the Harpeth River make for a beautiful setting. Watch the video, filmed by J. Lockhart Media, after the jump, and stay tuned for more releases from this rising force in Nashville’s pop scene.
