[TICKET GIVEAWAY] Tristen C A V E S Record Release Show w/ Meadownoise & Penicillin Baby | 11.1 @ The Stone Fox

Tristen is way more than just another Nashville-based folksy singer/songwriter. Accurately dubbed a “synth-pop siren” by Spin Magazine (who also have a live stream of her new record on their site) the mesmerizing Tristen channels influences from Kate Bush to Henry Rollins in her sophomore effort, which is quite a departure from her first record. The official release show for her new album CAVES is this Friday, November 1st at The Stone Fox w/ Meadownoise Pencillin Baby, and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give to one lucky winner! Find out how you can win, and check out some tracks from all the bands playing that night after the jump.

[TICKET GIVEAWAY] Hanni El Khatib w/ Bass Drum of Death & Bad Cop | 10/15 @ Mercy Lounge

Hanni El Khatib

Garage-rocker Hanni El Khatib might be L.A.-based, but the bluesy singer/songwriter shirked West Coast-rock producers to record his sophomore album Head in the Dirt right here in Nashville. If you think his music sounds like the Black Keys, that would be due to the fact that Dan Auerbach produced the eclectic, 11-track album, which contains some of El Khatib’s strongest songs to date.  Hanni El Khatib returns to Nashville (he last played here in May with the Black Angels) with BRMC-openers Bass Drum of Death and our very own Bad Cop. Tickets are still available online right here, but, if you’re feeling lucky, you can enter to win a pair below! Keep reading for contest details, as well as more about all three bands!

REVIEW: Mudhoney w/ Cheap Time @ Third Man Records | 9.26.13 [PHOTOS]

w/ Cheap Time
Third Man Records; Nashville, TN
September 26, 2013

Photos by Shawn Jackson.

Sludge-rock legends Mudhoney paid a visit to the Blue Room of Jack White’s Third Man Records on Thursday, September 26th with Nashville-based rockers Cheap Time, and both bands completely blew our minds. I haven’t seen a local band as genuine and focused as Cheap Time in a long time, and the entire audience was equally entranced by their virtually nonstop hour-long performance. The punk-y trio channeled raw energy and confidence that perfectly paved the way for grunge kings Mudhoney‘s headlining appearance. After the jump you can read more about what we thought about the show, and check out some killer shots of both bands by photographer Shawn Jackson.

[Ticket Giveaway] Lupe Fiasco | War Memorial Auditorium | Sunday 11/3

Lupe Fiasco

I don’t know how I feel about Lupe Fiasco rhyming “pooper scooper” and “Eukanuba” in his new freestyle over “Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2” from Drakes newly released,  Nothing Was the Same LP, but Lupe certainly makes Drake’s beat his bitch own on the re-imagined track: “Pound of Flesh (Paris, Tokyo 2)”.  Pooper scoopin’ aside, we still love Lupe, and the Chicago MC is returning to Nashville on Sunday, November 3rd at War Memorial Auditorium as part of the “Tetsuo and Youth Preview Tour.

Tickets go on sale Friday (10/4) at 10am with a pre-sale starting on Thursday, but we have a pair of ticket to give away to one lucky reader! After the jump, check out the above-mentioned tracks, the password for the pre-sale, and how you can win a pair of tickets to what’s sure to be a killer show!
