[NO COUNTRY PREMIERE] Anchor Thieves Repurpose Obscure Sci-Fi for “Relapse” Music Video

Anchor Thieves-2016-620

Grunge-pop rockers Anchor Thieves have crafted a music video for their song “Relapse,” a previously released single from their forthcoming album, Monolith, and we’re excited to exclusively premiere it for you below! The video is essentially different scenes from the 1968 film Voyage to the Planet of the Prehistoric Women (public domain) spliced together, which features sexy women scantily clad in seashell bikinis, wandering a coast and finding a dragon/pterodactyl-like creature, which the women are enchanted by and begin to worship. The song, by contrast, is about being addicted to and in love with a woman you can’t shake, as much as you might try.  Lead singer and guitarist Cayce Keller, who came up with the initial idea of using the film as the video, indicated that the video can be thought of more as background to the song than a parallel to the song’s story and lyrics. Check out our premiere of the video and read more about it below!

Catch The Nashville Alternators | TONIGHT @ 3rd and Lindsley

The Nashville Alternators Pic

The Nashville Alternators take the stage at 3rd and Lindsley tonight, playing classic rock and soul songs of the ’60s and ’70s, leaning more often than not towards The Beatles and Paul McCartney. Don’t confuse them with any normal cover band, and don’t associate them with any stereotypical conceptions of a normal cover band performance. These are cream-of-the-crop musicians, and they have made a combined contribution to the sales of more than 350 million records worldwide. Their individual talents can be found on projects with Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Peter Frampton, Michael McDonald, Wynonna Judd, Roy Orbison, Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, Jonny Lang, Donna Summers, Kenny Loggins, LeAnn Rimes, Vince Gill, Sam Moore, Sheryl Crow, Amy Grant and Peter Cetera, among others. Be prepared for this show to live up to, and probably exceed, your expectations.

Head below to find out more about the origins of this unique project.  The show starts at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and you can grab $10 tickets here in advance.

It’s true: I wasn’t even born when Yacht Rock was at its peak. But the smooth music of 70s found its way into my musical collection like a slithery serpent burrowing in the Sahara Desert. Yacht Rock Revue, that world-class yacht rock cover band, has chosen to grace us with their presence this Saturday on Cannery Row.  The smoothness doesn’t stop there, though. This awesome show includes a lineup of special guests, including Bobby Kimball (of Toto), Peter Beckett (of Player), Robbie Dupree, Walter Egan, John Ford Coley PLUS Guilty Pleasures, Space Capone, Larry g(EE) & more. This is a yacht rock all-star lineup that can’t be missed.

You know it is going to be a party when it takes over the entire Cannery Row. The event will be held outdoors and indoors at the Mercy Lounge complex on Cannery Row, with FOUR stages, SIX bars, an incredible VIP package and much more – the Yacht Rock Revival is the party to kick off summer in Nashville.
