[TICKET GIVEAWAY] The Foxies w/ Leah Sykes & Charge The Atlantic | June 21 @ The Basement East

TheFoxies2019-620

One of Nashville’s preeminent up and coming indie pop/rock acts, energetic genre-benders The Foxies just released a fantastic new EP, Battery, earlier this spring, and are set to play their latest hometown show- an impressive headlining spot at The Basement East– on June 21, tapping fellow buzzworthy locals, pop singer Leah Sykes and eclectic rockers Charge the Atlantic, to support. Tickets are still available right here, but we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Read on for more about the show, and enter for a chance to win below.

THE FOXIES

Since landing on our radar with their blissfully poppy, retro, energetic debut EP Oblivion in 2016, locals The Foxies have steadily become one of the coolest names in the Nashville pop scene, winning the Road to Roo competition last to play Bonnaroo, and recently releasing a great new EP, Battery, the latest stepping stone in their inevitable rise to broader acclaim. Helmed by dynamic and enigmatic singer Julia Lauren Bullock, the roots of the project trace back to Phoenix, Arizona, and started as a band with early buzz thanks to single “Floods,” before more or less morphing into a solo vehicle for Bullock, and then back into a proper band as they’ve laid their roots in Nashville, resonating online thanks to further singles like “Wander in Lust,” “Box Wine,” “Be Afraid Boy,” and “Chewing Gum” for their glam inspired, ’70s and ’80s referencing, unabashed pop sound, rooted with a modern indie pop flair. An electrifying, confident, and cool live experience, and thanks to Julia’s one-of-kind, magnetic style and incredible voice, The Foxies are an essential rising Nashville group, and an excellent spring performance you won’t want to miss!

LEAH SYKES

A local transplant who hails originally from Florida, singer-songwriter Leah Sykes discovered a passion for singing in her youth, also learning to play guitar as a teen, and honing her craft as a songwriter, inspired by a vast array of influences both contemporary and classic, growing up on everything from hip hop to pop to soul to rock. After moving to Nashville at 18 and apparently attending Belmont (where mutual friends introduced her to her now-fiancée, up and coming country singer Devin Dawson, a Belmont alum), Sykes, now 21, honed a sound that finds a balance of her eclectic taste, with buzzy introductory single “Ruin Something” finding hypnotic, earnest, electronic pop flourish and instantly making Sykes a local pop artist to watch. Give it a spin below, and be sure to show up in time to catch her well-matched set!

CHARGE THE ATLANTIC

Rhode Island raised, Nashville based rockers Charge the Atlantic name check everyone from The Police to Incubus, Coldplay to 311, Dave Matthews Band to Phish, and Justin Timberlake to Maroon 5 in their eclectic list of influences, finding a sound that’s distinctly different from The Foxies, but equally as hard to pin down. Across just a handful of singles released this year and last, the band have found a catchy, pop-infused, propulsive sound that should make for a fun and party-starting opening set- don’t be late!
